What the heck are Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors?

5 metabolic syndrome risk factorsDo Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors Equal Obesity, Heart Disease… or both?

Do you have heart disease, diabetes or stroke? These are Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors worth reversing.  Metabolic syndrome is the name for a group of risk factors linked to overweight and obesity. These factors increase your chance of having heart disease and other health problems, such as diabetes and stroke.

CHD coronary heart disease is a condition in which a fatty substance called plaque (plak) builds up inside the coronary (heart) arteries. Plaque narrows the arteries and reduces blood flow to your heart muscle which can lead to chest pain, a heart attack, & heart damage.

Did you know that 70% of American children have the beginning stages of artereosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) by the time they are 12!!!  Maybe it’s the Happy Meal?  OK, sorry, a little off track (or right on)… getting back to Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors.

The term “metabolic” refers to the biochemical processes involved in the body’s normal functioning. Risk factors are traits, conditions, or habits that increase your chance of getting a disease.  So if your biochemical processes are not functioning properly then your metabolism will malfunction causing the possibility for 1,000’s of different diseases and “Metabolic Syndrome” is the nice way of saying you are in the beginning stages of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, obesity etc.  i.e. You are NOT healthy but we will prescribe you anywhere form 1-5 drugs that will “help” your sickness.  WHAT!!!!

No need for lifestyle reform (habits) or a Wellness Revolution (conditions).  Just pop this pill, along with that one, but not this one within 3 hours of that one and you will be fine.

5 Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors

You can develop any one of these risk factors by itself, but they tend to occur together. Metabolic syndrome is diagnosed if you have at least three of these metabolic risk factors.

  • A large waistline often referred to as abdominal obesity or “having an apple shape.” Excess belly fat is a greater risk factor for heart disease than excess fat anywhere else.
  • A higher than normal triglyceride level (or you’re on medicine to treat high triglycerides). Triglycerides are a type of fat found in the blood. The 2nd most commonly prescribed pharmaceutical drug in 2010 was Lipitor.
  • A lower than normal HDL cholesterol level (or you’re on medicine to treat low HDL cholesterol). HDL is sometimes called “good” cholesterol because it helps remove cholesterol from your arteries. A low HDL cholesterol level raises your risk of heart disease.  Again, need I remind you of Lipitor?
  • Higher than normal blood pressure (or you’re on medicine to treat high blood pressure). When this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage your heart and lead to plaque buildup.
  • Higher than normal fasting blood sugar (or you’re on medicine to treat high blood sugar). Mildly high blood sugar may be an early sign of diabetes or what is referred to as border line diabetic.

OK, I am not trying to be clever here with the (or if you are on medicine….) truth is 58% of Americans are on at least 1 prescription drug & if it is not a pain killer, it most likely is a statin drug like Lipitor to help slow the progression of heart disease and Metabolic Syndrome.

My question is… WHY,  OK louder…WHY?

Why are HUGE pharmacuetical companies pushing pills instead of educating us on “how to” reverse these Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors NATURALLY?

There are so many healthy, easy, cheap ways to lower blood pressure, cholesteral, reduce risk of stroke & diabetes etc.  But are they sharing… NO.  Are Dr’s even telling people to change their diet, eat more fresh less fried… a few but it is usually AFTER they write the scrip.

So here is what I do for my self and my family to wipe out our Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors…

Every morning the 4 of us take:

1/2 oz. of Eternity with Resveratrol (all studies show it helps do what Lipitor does only naturally)

1/2 oz. of FuCoyDon with Fucoidan (again excellent for heart health, inflammation & immune system)

We eat healthy meals, mostly cooked at home.  Jack and I enjoy a glass of wine (preferably red) every now and then.  Keep a diet high in complex carbs, with lots of fruits and veggies.

It is time for us to live by example and stop waiting till we are sick to go see a Dr. who then prescribes us a drug that has 100’s of dangerous side effects and months down the road you may find out that you can now sue them for millions (or at least the lawyers will be happy to).

You know you better than anyone else.  If you are taking heart medications, blood pressure meds etc. incorporate a healthy diet and exercise ToDAY.  If you need support or would like more info on these natural supplements contact me.  Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors are really just detectable stages of your body trying to tell you something seriously wrong is going on inside.
