Sarcoidosis Diagnosis

Sarcoidosis was the diagnosis on  August, 14 2004

“Life threatening illness called Sarcoidosis.”

That’s what the doctors told me after 6 months of testing.  Biopsies, cat scans, MRI, ultrasound, blood panels, tonsillectomy & more.  They ruled out arthritis, AIDS, rare blood diseases, CFS, lymphoma, tonsillitis & more… finally “Sarcoid..what?”  They being 2 MD’s, rheumatologist, pulmonologist & ENT specialists.

There was no hope given to me by traditional western medicine, the specialists informed me that there is no cure, very little research & no surety of what causes it.  One good thing was that it hadn’t reached my lungs yet, so far it was only in my lymphatic system & around my mediastinum.  You can see the beginnings of swollen lymph nodes under my chin.

The Dr’s. put me on high dose prednisone – 60 mg a day for a year, I gained 60+ lbs. which made the swollen lymph nodes under my chin a little harder to see!  Attitude is everything; gotta see the positive in everything, right.  I remember going to my MD for a routine check up.  I told her I was riding my bike and exercising daily but still gaining weight.  She told me I could ride my bike all day long and would not take the weight off because it was a side effect of prednisone.  Then, after reading her notes, she writes (prescribes) 20 minutes of physical exercise daily to help weight gain.  What??? OK.

Well I know we all have to go someday, but at the ripe old age of 32 I was not ready to throw in the towel just yet.  My family needed me & I was determined to persist through the chronic bronchitis, vertigo, head aches, joint, bone & muscle aching, financial stresses and find a way to “beat” this!

It is now October 2010 & I am thrilled to share my story of recovery through natural medicine with you.  If you have Sarcoidosis or know someone with it, please share this site with them.  We are here to support each other through autoimmune disease and grow in the knowledge of how to help our bodies heal.

Happy to share the health,
