The Raw Food Felon

raw food raidsThe Raw Food Arrest: Since when did growing your own food and selling it make you a felon?  Be careful the raw food felon could be lurking around any corner!

I am sure you have heard by now that James Stewart founder of Rawesome Foods, a private buying club offering wholesome, natural raw milk and raw cheese products (among other wholesome foods) bringing wholesome raw foods directly to consumers through a buying club, was arrested after a multi-agency raid on August 3rd.

That’s right… Grow and sell it, Go to jail for it should be a new slogan for our wonderful government…and I am not talking about drugs people.  I am talking about raw, REAL, healthy food – the kind our grandparents grew up on.  None GMO, none processed real food with real nutrition our bodies desperately need is now becoming illegal in this country supposedly founded on FREEDOM.

After this “multi-agency” dumped the raw milk & destroyed the store (buyers club), Jams was arrested and charges with 13 criminal counts relating to allegations of the unlawful production and sale of unpasteurized dairy products. An initial bail was set at an astonishing $123,000, of which Stewart was not allowed to pay himself, nor pay in increments. It has since been reduced to $30,000, but still governed by strict conditions.

The operator of Healthy Family Farms (the farm that supplies milk and other items to Rawesome), Sharon Ann Palmer, was also charged with 9 counts of unpasteurized milk production. One of her employees, Eugenie Bloch, was the third person charged following the raid, with 3 counts of conspiracy.

Raw Food Reality

I sit in amazement (and anger) at our lack of freedom and wonder when my garden where we grow heirloom, organic produce and serve it at Calderas, our family restaurant will be raided by the FDA, local law enforcement and CDC.  How many of us activists are being spyed on?

By offering a buyers club co-op all James was doing was taking back his health, his wealth & happiness (his freedom) & offering these 3 things to others in the LA area.  Like he says “The only way we know what is in our food is if we grow it ourselves.”

How Bass-Akwards is this country when raw food clubs are being raided in LA county?  Shouldn’t the law being protecting us from real crime, drugs, and thugs…I don’t think James Stewart, whom I have now dubbed “The Raw Food Felon” fits this M-O.

What’s next?  Arresting people for singing lyrics about peaches and trees?  It may not be that far fetched.

It is long past time to – TAKE A STAND & SPEAK OUT.  Our freedom depends on it.
