Before we begin this 3 day natural detox cleanse I want to share some food for thought leading up to this cleanse. Or should I say, these are the physical and psychological patterns I am facing right now which have led me to FINALLY commit to a natural detox cleanse followed by a 60 day paleo diet. (more on that later) P.S. Jack is doing this cleanse with me & I don’t care what day of the year it is…it’s NEVER too late to start. So join us & let’s get healthy!
It is the beginning of a new year & a new you! So grab a pin and let’s get real with ourselves….
1. Have any cravings? I crave something sweat, primarily chocolate…dark chocolate.
2. How about patterns? Do you eat when your stressed, bored, pissed, tired, happy, thirsty? I eat when I’m stressed….yes, I always have a bag of dark chocolate chips in the cupboard. 🙂 Even if I don’t crave them, just knowing they are there when I need them brings me peace. Yikes, I have issues.
3. Habits? What time do you eat? Do you eat breakfast? What’s your favorite beverage? If it weren’t for Jack I would skip breakfast 6 out of 7 days. I would also like to see our family put down the cell phones and enjoy a meal/visit together at least 3 times a week. I live in a house full of ravenous boys so this may be quite a challenge. How about you? What habits do you have and want to change?
Get ready to start your natural detox cleanse by paying attention to today. Consider keeping a food journal of what you eat, drink & think today. State your intention for this cleanse…what do you want and why? If you REALLY want to stay committed – put your intention statement on the fridge…when all you want is that steak, soda or snickers it will come in handy.
Dani’s Intention Statement: I will kickstart my “year of wellth”, lose a pound & inspire people by walking my talk. That last part is what will keep me on track…after all the world is watching. No pressure, right?
Now that we have purpose and intention I feel like our odds are much better! It’s only a 3 day detox cleanse but there are some things you will want to do more & those to do less of.
More Of This: Water – start your morning off with 16 oz. of room temperature filtered water. Eat leafy greens and root veggies with some spices like turmeric, cumin, ginger. These will help rid your body of toxins and improve digestion before we start naturally detoxing and cleansing. Rest – get a good nights sleep and have the intention of getting 8 hours of sleep every night you are cleansing.
Less Of That: Dairy, red meat, coffee, sugar and processed foods! I hope you don’t quit before you start…just stay with me. These are all foods we should consider enjoying less of and doing this before a natural detox cleanse will REALLY help to prevent any possible withdrawals, headaches, etc.
Dairy and red meat cause the body to swell & with inflammation comes disease. Try coconut or almond milk. Red meat is extremely hard to digest. Processed foods especially white starchy foods can be subbed for healthier options like organic corn chips or baked veggie chips, dried fruit for those like me with a sweat tooth is a good option. Coffee is a hard habit to kick and even though this is only 3 days; if your blood is made of coffee you will want to start cutting your cups in half every day until you are down to 1/2 cup before you start a natural detox cleanse and say no to caffeine for 72 hours.
WOW, for those of you who’ve stuck it out with me – I thank you! You are ready to take back your health one day at a time because your health matters.
I’ve taken some excellent natural cleanse smoothie recipes and altered them using my favorite spices to help cleanse, detox and revive us over the next 3 days! Feel free to modify this schedule to work for you and if you have some miracle ingredient be willing to get creative and add or delete as you see fit. All I ask is that you share your amazing alterations in the comment box below so we can all give it a taste!
Schedule: Drink 16oz. water when you wake up. Drink your breakfast smoothie within an hour of waking. Enjoy your lunch and dinner smoothies at appropriate times. No need to rush through your smoothie, enjoy it. Drink water, herbal tea with lemon, ginger tea etc. between smoothies. FYI – I will be taking a multi-vitamin/mineral & probiotic supplement at lunch and feel that it is important for you to do the same.
Smoothie Recipes: Print the 3 Day Natural Detox Cleanse Shopping List
Breakfast between 7-8am: 1 cup Water, 1 TBSP Flaxseed, 2 TBSP Aloe Vera Juice, 1 cup Raspberries, 1 Banana, ½ cup Spinach, 1 TBSP Almond Butter, 1 TBSP Lemon Juice, ½ tsp cinnamon
Lunch between 12-2pm: 1/2 cup Almond Milk, 1 TBSP Melted Coconut Oil, 2 TBSP Aloe Vera Juice, 1 cup Kale, 1 Cucumber, ½ squeezed lime, ½ Green Apple, 1 cup fresh pineapple
Dinner between 5-6:30pm: 1 1/2 cup coconut water, 1 cup blueberries, ½ cup mango, 1 TBSP Lemon juice, 1 cup Kale, ¼ Avocado, 1/4 Tsp cayenne pepper, 1 TBSP Flaxseed
Tips for blending: Even though a Vitamix is amazing, a regular blender should be fine for these recipes. For those without a super powerful blender, add the liquid ingredients first then blend the others together slowly. Use the liquids to make the smoothie to your liking and thickness. I usually use frozen berries, frozen chopped bananas etc to make the smoothies more like a milkshake!
